Class of 2022 High School Graduates

FEDERICO “FEDE”

I will never forget the excitement I felt upon receiving the Max Finney Scholarship my freshman year. At that moment I knew my life had changed forever, and that I now bore a huge responsibility. I am extremely grateful to the Finney family for all of their support and guidance throughout my high school years. I am honored to be the first Frassati Catholic High School recipient of the Max Finney scholarship and hope to serve as an example for all future recipients. The Scholarship has impacted me in so many ways by providing my family with financial assistance in a time of need and by forming me into the person I am today. Receiving this scholarship motivated me to be the best student at Frassati I could possibly be whether it be in the classroom or on the soccer field. Most importantly, this scholarship has helped me to grow in many ways as a Christian. Thanks to my formation and education at Frassati, I have grown more devoted to my faith and strengthened my spirit for service. The Scholarship helped me stay at Frassati which is a true blessing. I am very thankful for the Max Finney Foundation because it has opened so many doors for me. Even though I am graduating from high school this year, I hope that I will stay connected with the foundation and the other recipients for years to come. What the foundation is doing is changing lives, and I am very excited to see it grow in the future.

I will be majoring in Biology at the University of Notre Dame.

As I opened my Strake Jesuit acceptance letter, I sat there in awe and excitement, but was unaware of the immense love and support the Jesuit community, as a whole, had to offer. I began to further discover this tremendous love and support through my discovery of the Max Finney Foundation. Even though such a horrific and tragic event as his death was, the Jesuit community remained steadfast and strong, uniting together to remember Max's legacy. Upon the notification that I had been awarded the scholarship, I began to understand how through such a tragedy comes such endless love and support, as through the scholarship, I was granted the privilege to be immersed in the incredible Jesuit community at Strake Jesuit under less financial stress. Without the scholarship and the foundation in my life, I'm not sure I would have been able to develop the personal relationships that I have already with the Finney Family, as through our book discussions and scholarship dinners, I have been exposed to the immense and unconditional love God has to offer to us, despite previous tragedies and horrific events. I hope to maintain my relationships with the Finney Family members and other scholarship recipients. They serve as evidence of God's divine providence, as He unites His children amidst times of suffering and sadness, fostering happiness and love. The support of the Jesuit community has also driven me to conduct my Eagle Scout Project to give back to such a community that has nurtured and cared for me over the last four years and years to come. I am excited to attend Boston College to pursue my bachelor's degree, specifically concentrating in International Relations, Law, and Economics. I have complete confidence that at a Jesuit institution like Boston College, I will continue to be surrounded and embraced by other members of the Jesuit community, seeking to support one other as we face our academic endeavors and brave the cold and unforgiving Boston winters, all while working together to grow closer to Christ.
