Fede attends Frassati Catholic High School, and his favorite classes have to be ethics and history. Why? History is an amazing subject due to the fact that the past has an almost infinite amount of knowledge. History also presents us with morals and teachings of how to act, based off the errors and achievements of historical figures. The ethics class is extremely impactful because it is in this class where we are taught how to live a good and honest life in the real world. The best part is that in ethics we are taught how to defend the truth. At Frassati he is a core member of the World Language Club, a house representative for the city of Turin, and an ambassador for shadows. During the Winter season he will be playing soccer, and during the fall he will be playing Tennis. His hobbies include playing sports, such as soccer, basketball and Tennis. Other hobbies are acting and watching movies with his Family. In the future he would like to become a Pediatrician and a strong Pro-Life advocate. Missing the religious component, he completed only one year of public school before returning to a Catholic school. Collin is running cross country in the fall and will again play tennis for the Falcons in the spring. At that moment I knew my life had changed forever, and that I now bore a huge responsibility. I am extremely grateful to the Finney family for all of their support and guidance throughout my high school years. I am honored to be the first Frassati Catholic High School recipient of the Max Finney scholarship and hope to serve as an example for all future recipients. The Scholarship has impacted me in so many ways by providing my family with financial assistance in a time of need and by forming me into the person I am today. Receiving this scholarship motivated me to be the best student at Frassati I could possibly be whether it be in the classroom or on the soccer field. I began to further discover this tremendous love and support through my discovery of the Max Finney Foundation. Even though such a horrific and tragic event as his death was, the Jesuit community remained steadfast and strong, uniting together to remember Max's legacy. Upon the notification that I had been awarded the scholarship, I began to understand how through such a tragedy comes such endless love and support, as through the scholarship, I was granted the privilege to be immersed in the incredible Jesuit community at Strake Jesuit under less financial stress. Without the scholarship and the foundation in my life, I'm not sure I would have been able to develop the personal relationships that I have already with the Finney Family, as through our book discussions and scholarship dinners, I have been exposed to the immense and unconditional love God has to offer to us, despite previous tragedies and horrific events. I hope to maintain my relationships with the Finney Family members and other scholarship recipients. They serve as evidence of God's divine providence, as He unites His children amidst times of suffering and sadness, fostering happiness and love. He holds high standards for himself and is competitive both on the field and in the classroom. Charlie’s favorite school subjects are math and drama. On campus, Martin enjoys all his classes especially Theology and AP History because it satiates his avid desire for knowledge and promotes critical thinking. Outside the classroom, Martin is an athlete who’s not afraid to take a dive into the unknown. Freshman year, he dropped his cross-country times dramatically, became district champion wrestler for the 152lbs junior varsity weight class despite never wrestling before, and tried his hand at rugby. Although he didn’t play soccer or run track and field for school this year, Martin enjoys participating in those sports as well. Off campus, Martin is an Eagle Scout and is using his skills learned to teach younger scouts. Not willing to stop his growth at Eagle, Martin is now challenging himself by staffing National Youth Leadership Training, and later joining Venture Crew BSA. Receiving the Max Finney Foundation Scholarship has been the greatest honor I have had in my 4 years at Strake Jesuit. I have carried the responsibility entrusted to me by the foundation every day as I worked to strengthen my relationship with God. The Max Finney Foundation Scholarship helped me and my family financially during a time of uncertainty, thus allowing me to attend Strake Jesuit where I was taught to live my life, not only for myself, but for others as well. The Foundation has also introduced me to many amazing people along the way; getting to know the Finney family and other recipients of the scholarship through book discussions and events is something of immense value to me and will help shape the person I continue to become. The book discussions organized by the Finney family have taught me essential values like determination, discipline, and compassion that I will forever lean on. I am eternally thankful for the support, motivation, and experiences that the Scholarship has provided to me throughout my high school career. After graduation, I am planning to move to UT Austin to study Civil Engineering. I am aware that it will be a new and challenging experience, but I feel ready for it thanks to the Foundation's and the Finney’s continual support. As I move on in my life, I will not forget the impact that the Foundation has had on me and on my search for meaning. The Max Finney scholarship allows Max's zest for life to live on in others through the annual LAX to the Max tournament, the scholarship program, and the community of young men seeking to grow in faith, fellowship, and knowledge through the biannual book study. I can truly say that without the Max Finney Foundation and its generous donors, I would not be the man I am today. I never knew that being chosen to receive financial gifts would be synonymous with being chosen to receive a familial gift because now my family is also the Finney family, my fellow brother awardees, and hopefully Saint Max Finney! His favorite subjects are English and Theology because they allow him to explore important people of history and their contributions to the current world. MacGregor is an athlete who plays football and baseball and enjoys working with others on the teams. When he is not on the field or in the classroom, you can find him hunting or fishing depending on the season. He also loves volunteering at League of Champions and other organizations that help disabled children. MacGregor has a lot of places he would like to travel but he would most like to travel to Vatican City. MacGregor hopes to play college and professional baseball. His favorite subject is math because he loves to solve problems and math applies to most everything we do. He also enjoys history, especially learning about World War II. Luke spends his time camping, playing chess and competing against his brother playing video games. He also enjoys building LEGOs and challenges himself to build the advanced models, he especially likes the Technic cars. Luke plays basketball at St Anne and trains in Kuk Sool Won martial arts, recently earning the Dahnbo Nim rank. Luke is always looking forward to his next trip to Mexico where he enjoys visiting different beaches, spending time with relatives practicing his Spanish, and challenging his family to card games. In the future Luke wants to visit the homeplace of his ancestors, Luca, Italy and is learning Italian in anticipation. He participates in soccer and tennis there, while playing club soccer outside of school. In school he has a preference in learning math and science, where he can apply precise and ordered thinking. His hobbies include playing piano and especially guitar. He often spends part of his weekends watching soccer, being a passionate Inter Milan fan. He loves traveling, especially to his home country Italy. He relishes spending time with his cousins and relatives there, doing activities such as playing at the beach or hiking in the mountains. He wants to tour the US one day so he can better know the country he lives in. Stefano is the second of seven siblings, which can quickly fill his hands when empty. He enjoys playing with them in many situations such as in the pool or around a board game.Stefano also regularly attends the Opus Dei center in Houston, where he receives formation and creates friendships. He considers this a main pillar in creating his character. He is the oldest of seven kids in his family. Nash went to Saint Theresa Catholic School in Sugar Land and he is currently a student at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory. Nash is passionate about his Catholic faith and grateful for the strong foundation he has received both at home and in his Catholic education. Nash’s favorite subject in school is biology because he finds the human body fascinating and loves learning about how all the body systems work together. Nash keeps busy at school with many activities including the water polo team, altar serving, and playing piano in the jazz band. He will also be joining the ice hockey team next year. Nash is a natural leader and enjoys being able to use his leadership skills to serve others. During the summer, he spends time volunteering and helping hospitalized kids at Texas Children’s Hospital. Some of Nash's hobbies outside of school include hanging out with his many siblings, swimming, playing water polo with his club team, and practicing piano. Nash enjoys hiking and exploring during his family’s many road trips to national parks. One place Nash wants to visit is Rome where he can tour the historic sites, eat the delicious food, and visit Vatican City. His favorite class is P.E. because he likes playing sports and hanging out with friends but also enjoys Theology and contemplating the faith. He enjoys watching sports and plays soccer and basketball at his school. He was also part of the St. Anne Drumline and both the fall and spring plays at St. Anne. In his most recent role, he was casted as Timon in The Lion King. In his free time he reads books and plays video games. On the weekends he likes to hangout with his family and cousins. He plans to apply to Frassati and eventually become a pediatrician. He plays soccer for his school, and he loves swimming and playing basketball for fun. His favorite subjects in school are math and science because he likes the problem solving aspect of them. He watches his favorite soccer team, Liverpool, play every weekend, and he has been a huge fan of them for years. He loves traveling to visit his family and cherishes the time he gets to spend with them. He’s an only child, and his favorite hobbies are playing guitar, playing various sports such as soccer, basketball, and swimming, and playing video games. He loves being out in nature with his family, and they go camping and hiking together from time to time. He volunteers at animal shelters doing things such as walking the dogs, and is considering becoming a vet when he gets older. At school I play the piano for the Wednesday masses in the morning, and I love to help with special events that my school/church puts together. I love to read and play chess, and in the future I would love to be a professional pianist. My biggest goals are to keep my grades very high, and learn extremely hard songs on the piano. He attends school with his older brother, where they both play baseball. In school, he enjoys physics and geometry, and the mathematical concepts behind real world scenarios. Luke also enjoys history, and is fascinated by the rise of Western Civilization. He loves camping with his friends, and they challenge themselves to plan trips to different states, such as a recent Montana trek. He especially loves to camp in places that are not easily accessible. Another hobby of his is working on and restoring classic cars with his dad, where he can use physics and math concepts to solve real world problems. Luke wants to visit all 50 states, and go camping in each one. After high school, he hopes to attend Texas A&M for an engineering or criminal justice degree. Luke wants to become a Texas Game Warden after college.
